Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)

Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the most commonly used treatment for those experiencing sleep-disordered breathing problems, most notably of which is obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Individuals who suffer from OSA experience cessations in their breathing in which obstructions in the airway cause them to stop breathing for a few seconds at a time throughout the night. CPAP machines gently deliver pressurized air through the airway at a constant pressure to prevent the upper airway from collapsing.
